Duckett on Deben - Suffolk Soundwaves
26 October 2011 by ChloeSuffolk Soundwaves is a music project that has been running for the past eight years, it helps to promote local artists who write and perform their own music. It offers workshops in pop and rock, music tech and dj-ing, run by a team of dedicated professional tutors and puts on gigs to showcase the best local talent. The scheme operates throughout the Suffolk Costal area from Halesworth right down to Felixstowe and across to Martlesham.

Suffolk Soundwaves organised an Ultimate Band Contest at Framlingham College which took place on 21 October.
Artists that performed: Rosie & Emily, The Farthings, Rogues Cradle, Lucy Sampson, Timothy Leat Rogues, FLiCKER, Eva Edwards, Joe Nickson and Never Ending Lights. Dirt Addiction were also selected as finalists but were unable to play on the night.
The competition was open to any artist living the Suffolk Coastal district, aged between 13 and 26, or bands with at least one member living in the district. All entrants had to be unsigned and had to have three original songs they have written.
The winner's prize includes a day in a recording studio, music industry masterclasses, and £250 cash. The second place prize was £150 and third place £100.
I went down to Framlingham College to find out what the competition was all about and who would be crowned the winner of the Ultimate Band Contest 2011.
