The Cake Shop family-run business has been in Woodbridge since 1946. It has made everything from the plain 'national loaf' of those days to the sophisticated, popular 'Suffolk trencher' of today, described here by manager Simon as the nearest to an Anglo-Saxon loaf you can get. John talks to Simon and Peter, the owner of the Cake Shop, about the bread and cakes, and how the enterprise has survived and thrived. The shop in the Thoroughfare is open from 7 to 4.30, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays to 3.30. It has an excellent website at www.cakeshopbakery.co.uk
